I was also told “the brochure you were given at check-in also tells you about dogs at the beach. You have your dog here with you on the beach?!” When I explained that I wasn’t aware that dogs were not permitted and I had in fact read all of the bullet-points on the animal sign at the kiosk, I was told “there are signs everywhere.” By everywhere, he was of course referring to the kiosk which included a bullet-point list on how to care for your pet on one side, and the same sign plus another sign illustrating all of the animals not permitted on the other side of the kiosk. We found out that our dog was not permitted at the swimming area when a forest service employee approached us with “Is there a reason We spent the past weekend at Sherwood, and we felt more like criminals than relaxed campers by the time we left.
